Jonathan Wood Vets is the closest as they are based in Crediton. It's a mixed practice but all the vets have some horse experience.

If you want a horse-specific practice, then probably best to try Stringer Equine Vets or Phoenix Equine (both based Exeter way). Penbode Equine Vets (Holsworthy) might also cover the Crediton area.

My local vets (St Boniface which are Crediton based) are I think reasonably priced on x rays and I'd use Clare Smith for a vetting. I've been told Westridge has a guy who is hot on lameness too, but I don't know his name. There is Western Counties who are a large practice and do cover this area.

I think it was Clare from St Boniface who I had a good few years back now to do a vetting.

If it was her (sorry that probably doesn't make sense) she was as straight as a die & gave me the benefit of her excellent advice concerning the horse.

I don't know if Tor Equine cover your area? They are based at Newton Abbot. We are with them. If so I would recommend Richard (if you can get him) or Beth. Any of their vets really can be trusted to give an honest opinion.
