Going for what feels like the hundredth attempt at having a horse vetted and it passing. However horse is 4 hours away in south wales (near Carmarthen). Both vets I would like to use are ones the seller uses so would like to try to find a different one. Must be equine, preferabley used to a)young/immature horses (well behaved) and b) endurance or at least competition work expectations. Any ideas please?

Cross country equine clinic in Chepstow has an experienced and excellent endurance vet called Nick West. He has competed himself and regularly vets at endurance events. He is very nice too.

Ditto above.

Nick has been my vet for years and years- trust him implicitly.

Thanks for the suggestions all.
Cross country are about 100 miles away so no good, Dyffrin twyi are one of the sellers vets and have had a price from cotts equine but not sure about the vet they suggested. So unknown independant vet or known but possibly biased vet. Hmmm.

I live within 25 miles of Carmarthen, Phillipa and Lisa at Dyffryn Tywi have been building up an equine practice from scratch for the past 10 years. Yhey were both experinced vets before they started and ride their own horses. I could undertand that you are a little uneasy about using the vendors own vets but you will get an honest vetting from them IMO.

Have used Gibson and Jones from Llanelli for many years. Experienced equine vets. We have always found them OK. Also Brian Cotter in Cross Hands has been very good with our horses. Neither has done vettings for us though.

I agree with the recommendations for Dyffryn tywi. My farrier recommended Brian Cotter as being the best equine vet around the area (but unfortunately he wouldn't travel to me as I'm further east than Cross Hands).
