Vet Visit Pricing - what would you prefer?

my vets don't do a free day but they have a care plan, so it covers the usual's, jabs, teeth, worm count etc 1x a year a equest pramox! and 50%call out on all other call outs and discount on 2nd teeth treatment! all for £16.90 a month, so I have horses on that! call out is normally £40 + vat I believe

We don't have zone days or anything. We pay about £20 call out and £25 exam horse fee. We are approximately 45 minutes drive (by car) down the motorway from out equine vets.

No free call out days. Ours is £15 call out (I think the weekend/night rate is more) then £1.50/minute plus whatever they use on top. So my last bill for examining, cleaning and stitching a wound was £15 call out, plus £1.50 x 20 minutes, plus 3 staples.

Ours charge about £25 for a call out for our zone (10 miles) and same again at least for examination. A "passing visit" is about £15 if you are lucky to get one. I often take ponies in for vaccs and teeth as it's cheaper, you get an appt time, and they have all the facilities. Ours are dedicated equine vets, and reading this, have realised they are not expensive!

I don't think my vets have a zone day, my horses are only in the next village from the practice, but I think it could be a good idea.

Wish ours did did zone days! No zone days £45 call out and ALWAYS get charged (£30-£35) on top of that to examine horse and to discuss so £75/£80 before you even sneeze.

If your lucky can get a shared visit but that only knocks £10/£20 off

Mine don't do zone days and charge about £40 call out. I alway box up and take mine to the vets myself :)

I had a friend who boxed her horse to vets for jags. You know what they charged her ?
Exactly the same as if they came out!Argument was horse had used their facilities. Vet had walked up ramp jagged horse, done!!
