Vet vs Hunt the cost of having a horse pts

If you don't hunt, how would you know who to call? I'm reading this thread and it has struck me that if I had that sort of emergency I know how I would want my girl to go (probably bullet but whoever could get there first) but I wouldn't have any numbers in my phone or any idea what to do. I've just moved slightly out of my vet's area and she's told me she'll do planned visits but not emergencies so I know if it was a vet emergency I would use YO's vet, but what about the other sort of emergency, if you understand me? How do you know who to call? And surely I should have their number?

I have the number of both local hunts in my phone - if you google your local hunts you will find their contact on the websites - as in the case of one of my local hunts there is the contact for PTS and disposal, the other hunt has the kennel number to ring in this instance.

I don't want to upset anyone but, I've always wanted to know this...

... is it possible to keep your horse's skeleton (cleaned up etc...) after she/he has been PTS?

I know that some people might find this an incredibly distasteful thought, but I would love to have a mounted horse skeleton. I would idealy like it to be my mare's skeleton (rather than a random horse) preferably after she has died of old age, having had a very happy and long life. It would mean alot more to me than a pot with her ashes in. You can blame my childhood trips to Tring Museum, the Pitt Rivers Museum, my interest in anatomy and art.
