Im thinking about entering my 18 year old in a ridden veteran class at the end of the month. Although I have shown before, I've never actually shown a veteran, so does anyone have any tips for me?
and what bridle's best to use?
he does go in a snaffle, and goes well in a pelham, so is it just personal preference?
and am I best in my tweed jacket or my navy hunt coat?

and what is it actually judged on?

generally you show them as their type - so if he was a hunter you'd wear turnout for a show hunter.

It's a difficult class to describe - it's judged on conformation and ride, taking into account the horses age and it's impact on performance ie. an older horse may not be so free as a young horse. They also often discount scars/bumps/splints etc.

ok, Im good at being immaculate if I put my mind to it!

dont really know what type he is- think he's a small hunter type? what do you think? he's 15hh. please excuse the state of him in this pic, it was taken before christmas- he looks tonnes better now!

Yep i would turn him out as a hunter.

If it is a VHS class then do NOT gallop in your individual show! its against the rules and will get marks deducted
