veteran complete food for my old dude?

My guy has been on dodson and horrell pasture mix, with some apple chaff (in the winter he also has equibeet)...well, he is cracking on now and wondered if I should change to a diet that's good for oldies...he isn't really worked, and in the winter even rugged he drops weight, not dramatic, it's just his cycle...with winter coming, I give him some porridge too for breakfast, carrots, apples, and a feed in the morning, hay all day, what should i be feeding him? Thanks for reading.x

I use Allen and Page Veteran Vitality. It has sugar beet in it already and linseed, plus other stuff, so you don't need to add anything else. If needed, when it's been really cold and my oldie has needed a bit more, I add in Baileys no 4 Conditioning Cubes. It's all fed soaked so good for those whose teeth aren't so good. I spent one winter faffing about with chaff, sugar beet, separate mixes, etc; the VV is just one bag, so much easier and she wolfs it down!

Our oldies did really well last winter on Rowan Barbury's Soft 'n' Soak range of mashes.

My mare was on veteran vitality but in sure the notes they sent me said it wasn't suitable for horses with cushings. So I discovered that their fast fibre was also approved by the veteran society. I put her on that last yr with molasses free high fi to slow her down and she looked amazing. Baring in mind we Hayed for a long time last winter. Nov to April due to very muddy fields and they lived out 24/7. She 28 now too

I started using Rowan Barberry at the end of last winter - it will be interesting to see how she does on it for a whole winter.
