Can anyone recommend a veteran horse insurance policy? My mare has just turned 17 and is a field ornament. I want her insuring for things such as colic (which seems to be excluded for some reason in many policies even though she has never had a tummy ache) and accidents. She has a permanently damaged shoulder so obviously that leg will be excluded. Current insurance has just expired and the cover on the veteran insurance offered doesn't seem worth having. Thanks

Petplan equine will give you full cover for your horse up to the age of 25, providing you insure it before it is aged 20. They are an excellent company - the premiums will be far more than you have been quoted for "injury only" policies as they give full illness and injury cover, but it's well worth the cover when they get that bit older!

Thank you! I will give them a try. :)

Just make sure that you don't go specifically for their veteran policy - that is cheaper, but excludes illnesses like a lot of the other companies, you need to take out the normal horse policy.
