Veteran Insurance

Anyone got any recommendations for insurance companies for veterans? Twiglet's is up for renewal, and want something that'll cover him for vets fees for as long as possible.

How old is he? I think petplan are about the only compnay that will insure horses up to (I think) 25 for illness BUT as far as I know you have to insure your horse with thme by the time it's 18 or 19? Otherwise I think the illness limit is about 20

Give them a call though. Most companies (including who I work for) still go onto restricted cover at age 16.

I still get cover from NFU for vets but not LOU - my lad is 19yo but has been with them sonce he was rising 5 - daren't try to swap now!

My mare is coming up 19, and I switched to Petplan this year so that she can be covered for illness as well as injury up to 25 years - they were the only one I could find who offered illness cover up to that age. I've not had to claim yet (touch wood) so I can't really say what they're like!

Thanks all.....think it's going to be Petplan - am just a bit concerned as the excess is rather high and haven't heard great things about them paying out....

how do you get illness as well as injury for veterans?
do you get it automatically or do you have to ask?!

you have to ask and your horse has to be under 20 years old when you first take out the policy. And only pet plan do it
