I would like to show my 20yr old ex show jumper in a veteran in hand class the only thing is she goes in a hackamore as hates bits - hadn't had one in for 15 years. It says in the veteran showing rules that bit less bridles are allowed - does anyone show a veteran in a hackamore? And in hand in a hackamore? Newbie to showing so any thoughts welcome

Could you find a nice rope halter for in hand? Or a nice in hand bridle that doesn't require the bit. Cant say I've ever seen a veteran class allow bitless so that's good. As for the ridden class, if hackamores are permitted and that's what your horse likes then go for it. Good luck!

I showed in hand in a white halter the other weekend. Pony cannot have a bit due to mouth issues.

I can't upload a photo because I'm on a poor signal but the weekend thread with 23 June has a photo (plus we got the biggest rosette ever!)

Rules say the halter is ok for anything apart from stallions but I checked in advance with the organiser and they said so long as I was in control.

I would either go for a smart leather headcollar or a inhand bridle that doesn’t need a bit (filly slip). Cant say I’ve ever seen anybody use a hackamore inhand
