Hello - also posted this in other forum but still - my elderly TBxhanoverian mare is looking a little bit elderly this year and has lost some sparkle (teeth, general check up by vet and back all done recently so no problems like that, she is just getting on a bit) and though she is still keen to have a good gallop in the field and hack out, i was wondering about adding some vitamin and yeast supplements in her feed. She's lost a bit of weight recently. At the moment she just gets molassed chaff, old faithfuls' (changes to pasture mix in summer), speedi-beet and barley, and also fresh garlic and oil.

Any recommendations for good veteran vitamin and mineral/yeast supplements which are cost effective? thank you :-)!

It may not seemed cheap, but it does when you discover what it can save you in hard feed and that no other supplements or oils are then required.

Incidentally, I find Spillers senior conditioning in winter/maintenance in summer mix the best on the market for oldies

Second the Top Spec senior. It is about £38 for a 20k bag and lasts my 17h ID at least a month. It has a joint suppliment in it and loads of other things which have really put the sparkle back for my boy,(he's about 27). I feed just that and chaff in the summer as he is a bit of a fatty. During the winter he had the Top Spec super conditioning flakes as well which are very palitable and high in oil (about £12)
