You may have read my other posts - Sadly had my mare PTS following an accident on Monday - got the invoice today and Im quite shocked! (This is luckily for me the first time i have had one of my own horses PTS and never really knew all the costs involved)
Bill:
£108 call out (vet arrived at 9.15am but classed as emergency call out plus out of hours as i called before 9am so 1 x £50 and 1 x £58!)
£7.20 for the needle and syringe!!!
£5.60 for the cannula!
Domosedan injection (sedative) £15.50,
Somulose injection (PTS medicine) £102.90
Disposal (simplest cremation as required by DEFRA) £370.20
Total £610.20
Im quite upset as have not only lost my lovely mare but almost all of her insurance money will be used up to pay a the bill, I have death cover but somehow dont have any cover for disposal so thats all my expense and she was only insured for £700 as policy would not let me update my purchase price unless i had a vetting again or so much time had elapsed blah blah, so wont have the money to look at replacing her without saving up again. Why on earth is it so expensive to do the right thing there was no other options available to me vet got within 10 foot of the horse saw the leg and went straight back to her car and returned with the injection!
Also I cant believe i have even been charged extra for the needles you would have thought it would have been an inclusive price! That makes another crappy day this week was really hoping bill would be under £500.
