As you may see from my last posts had to have pony pts last week just had a £400 vet bill not inc vat, the vet took him to be cermated as he told me it would be cheeper! Just lost my job and they want payment in 14 days does this sound expensive to any one? help!!

Sounds about right I'm afraid. Have a word with the vet, explain your circumstances and see if you can arrange some sort of payment schedule with them.

When I had my horse pts I got a bill of over £900 all in.

If you ring them they will probably let you pay in installments - so much a month etc. If you offer to do that they can't take you to court or anything - but if you call them out again they might make you pay when they come out, for a while, anyway. Ring them and talk to them, I'm sure they'l understand.

So sorry you lots you pony.
Some of the bil may be for the vets call ourt and time.
Cremation is not cheap and I htinkits about right as our insurnace policies include ' £300 ''disposal costs'' extra.

Do contact them and see what the vet's office can offer, such as some each month

I am sorry for your loss, sounds like you are having a bad time of it at the moment.

I am sure if you call the vet and explain they will let you pay in instalments, or hold off the payment for a while. They are usually quite understanding, especially in such a situation. But like said above, if you need them out before you pay the bill, it is possible they make you pay the outstanding amount before they come.

Sorry to hear about you horse :0( Must have come as quite a shock to get that through the door as well as losing your horse....
I dont pay for my bills right away...I send off some money each month as I couldnt afford it...
Send a little now and that should keep them at bay....

When I get big vet bills I just send off a cheque for £50 in the post and explain that's all I can afford but that I will eventually pay it all off. I haven't had any problems up to now, I seem to send them off £50 every month as I'm usually in arrears but they always come out and see me if I need them. I suppose a regular small payment is better than nothing at all. Maybe I have very understanding vets - it's a big practice so they may be able to accommodate paupers like me more easily than a small one.
I'm sure you will be able to come to some arrangement with your vet. Losing your pony is upsetting enough without having to worry about money.

Sorry about your pony

Echo what others have said, get in touch with the practice straightaway and explain that you can't pay it all at once. As long as they know, they will be understanding - but make sure you pay them something regularly. I think the charge is fairly reasonable.

I am so sorry for your loss. The Bill seems reasonable to me. Please, as others have said, contact your vet and ask for a Payment Arrangement. Do it sooner rather than later though.
Things will get better.

Talk to your vet about this. If they advised pts then they may write off a letter to your insurance company telling them that that was what they advised and therefore the terms of the insurance have been met and they should pay out.
