Nearly fainted when I opened the post this morning...

In the first week of March had the vet out for my horse to look at bald patches on his hind legs and face. Any way prescribed a range of treatment and he's fine now. I've phoned the practice twice in the last 4 weeks to find out results of skin scraping they took (no results) and find out how much I owe - only just received it this morning (6 weeks later), total being £435!!! I was expecting £170 - looks like they've billed me for 14 lots of norodine liquid antibiotic rather than the 1 lot of norodine granules that I had (£18 rather than £275) and they've billed me for the skin test when I haven't received the results!

It's so frustrating as the vets are really good - but the admin side is letting them down, now another phone call I have to make on Monday.
 
definatelky get back on the phone to them and get it sorted, that's a heck of a difference.
there's 2 practises in my area that are like that, vets are good but admin are useless.
 
Hm. Reminds me of a particular practice... Getting bills and snotty reminders before I'd had the flipping report! Plus they were to advise the next stage (they were waiting for something) and they didn't, nor did they know what I was talking about when I rang to complain.

Well glad it isn't just my practice... that said it does make me wonder if it had been processed through insurance whether that amount would have just been paid - I decided not to because I didnt want his skin being excluded in the future lol - especially as I still don't know what caused it!

Be REALLY careful with this as most policies have it written in that you should inform them of all veterinary treatment whether you claim or not. If they ever ask for the vet records and find that you have not informed them of anything (which they usually do if you want to make a large claim) then they can refuse to pay, even if the condition is totally unrelated. Say a broken leg or colic.
