Hello

Can anyone recommend any good vets in the Essex area (Brentwood) to do a vetting for a potential horse.

I was going use the owner's vet (House and Jackson) but have been advised to use an independant vet so I would like some recommendations please...

Many thanks

You could try Paton and Lee, they are Witham based or Taylor and Lee who are in Halstead...
Agreed though - best to use your own/independant vet.

Would highly recommend Catley Cross (previously known as Taylor and Lees) especially Ben Gibson – he has a particular interest in lameness and is very good when it comes to vettings.

Good luck with your vetting!! :)

Another vote for Paton and Lee although I do seem to have them on speed dial at the moment what with one thing and another!

Paton and Lee are fantastic - always use Tony and he is a lamness specialist Travelled wherever I have bought a horse to vet for me and even used them when I lived in chelmsford as found them the best. Catley cross (taylor and lees) are good too but not used for horses

Hello all,

Well had the vetting done, the horse failed at stage 2, due to lameness (right hind) and stifle effusion, didn't go ahead with 5 stage.
Expect to receive the vet report in a couple of days.
Also would like to mention he has wedged shoes on his back feet.
Vet advise not to buy him.

He is a 5 year old.

Any comments/opinions?
