Vets in Gateshead area

try yell.com they will have listed all the vets in the area, thats what I do when i want a horse vetted and just give each of them a ring and find out which cover horses.

good luck!

When I lived in Northumberland then Durham we used to use Blythman & Partners from Gosforth, other good horse practice was Bearl Farm Vets, based near Stocksfield, both should be listed in yellow pages. Hope that helps.

Proctor and Young have a very good reputation and have an excellent surgery.
I use Intake Vets at Hexham, however, they are mobile vets so anything big needs referred. I have used them for 6 years and whilst the vets are very good, it does cause a problem that they don't have a surgery.
Scott & Mitchell at Hexham (by the mart) are relatively new I have no personal experience but know they come highly recomended.

My advice would be to go for Proctor and Young as they are specialist horse vets and all the vets have their specialist areas. I will be changing to them when my horse's current treatment is over, just for convenience.

I use Scott & Mitchell in Hexham who also cover the Gateshead area, that Jo mentioned and have heared a lot of good reconmendations about them, although touch would I haven't had any big problems with the horses since I moved over. Have also heared a lot of good comments about Jo's vet Procter and Young. I used to be with Jim McLellan, would definately not reconmend him to someone looking for a vet.
