Me again, hopefully 3rd time lucky!
Recommendations for a 5 stage vetting that will cover soulbury, Leighton buzzard area (south of Milton Keynes)

So far have found chiltern vets and Buckingham vets. Any certain vets from these practises to use/ avoid?

Or other practises people would recommend?!

I used to use Towcester Equine when I lived near MK - I am sure they go as far as Leighton Buzzard. Can thoroughly recommend them anyway! http://towcester-vets.co.uk/equine/services/vettings/

Towcester vetted my current horse and then went on to be my vets.

Buckingham and Chiltern are both good though - I really like Philip Ivens at Buckingham. Jane Nixon is blinking scary though (although I don't think she works there now), good vet - no bedside manner!

I used to use Buckingham but only use Phillip, request him and no one else!Towcester is my current vets but luckily I've had no cause to use them so dont have a recommendation from there.

Jane Nixon has her own set up now for doing vettings and would be my choice.

Thanks guys! I've rang and apparently Philip from Buckingham only does specialist now for eyes, heart etc. I've currently pencilled in Keiran??

Have rang and spoke with Jane Nixon and she is getting back to me but agree she sounds rather scary

Philip is fabulous - I wish I was in their callout area. Kieran is their lameness guy and did the work-up on my mare when she went up to their clinic for a 2nd opinion. He did the flexion test in that 'no nonsense' way that you need when dealing with a stroppy mare who can cow kick with intent! She behaved impeccably....

I should also say that they didn't ever charge me or even suggest work that didn't need to be done. I had a long list of possible options for the ad hoc lameness my mare was showing from my local vets and both Philip and Kieran told me that she wasn't presenting badly enough to justify that kind of expenditure. She is my mare with PSSM and they were the first vets (in 2 years of struggling) who put her through the proper exercise tests which showed that she really was struggling with her muscles. Their advice of 'sort the muscles and she might come right' was spot on & saved me a fortune.

Jane is very scary, but also very good!

I only met Kieran once and there really wasnt very much he could have done in the circumstances so no real feedback on him. The others wouldnt be coming near a horse of mine again. Phillip is an exceptionally good vet. I know he had been doing lots of specialist work, so looks like hes moved out of the general practice which is a shame.

I moved out of their catchment area or would still be using them.

Towcester Equine or Jane. She is extremely experienced and tells it like it is, couldnt do better if you are after a vetting and parting with good money for a new horse.
