I had a really long discussion with my vet and i talkedabout all the options.
He said that the Cartrophen wouldn't really help her, as she is having glucosamine etc through the Joint aid and that what she needs is anti inflammatory.
We also discussed the pros and cons of Rimadyl vs Metacam and decided we would put her on Metacam for now and reveiw the situation after a while.
Thanks for all your experiences. I will obviously monitor her and let you know how we get on.

Must have missed your earlier post. I hope the metacam helps her stiffness, I think it is better long term than rimadyl. My GSD is on cartrophen injections, but tht is for spondylitis in her spine, I also ahve metacam in in case she gets a bad flare up.

I too must have missed your previous post, metacam is definately better long term than rimadyl, my dog who was diagnosed over a year ago with mild hip displaysia AND mild arthritis! Has previcox.

Good luck anyway.

Thank you all. I'll keep you posted about her. She is sooooo precious and I want the very best for her. Her nickname is "quality dog" because she has always given 150% in everything.
Beau is one of those dogs who has never (well hardly ever) been naughty in any way, Her worst offence is to plead deafness at times!
