I'm currently looking to buy a horse.
I'm looking further afield than the area my vet covers.
So if I find something I like, how do I find a reputable vet?
Surely I don't ask the seller to suggest one, or do I?

I would ask the seller who their vet is too. Then find another recommended one to do the vetting. If the seller is genuine they will understand why you need to use a different vet to their own.

When I bought Chex the sellers vet wouldn't do the vetting, it had to be a different one. He was my vet aswell, so he recommended someone for me.

The seller's vet is not allowed to carry out a vetting on their horse, it needs to be done by a vet who has never treated the horse before so it is a totally unbiased view.
