Vetting prior to purchase

Can anyone tell me how much a vetting should cost and what it covers? Also, I have heard that there are 2-3 star vettings and 5 star - whats the difference?!! Thanks!!

i was quoted in sussex £165 + call out for a 5 stage vetting. the difference they told me was 2 stage only checks eyes, heart and general health and watch them trot up. 5 stage requires them to be ridden then put back in the stable and then re test all heart etc

I paid roughly 170 for 5 stage vetting and bloods taken about Oct last yr if thats any help.Am in Scotland.

We've just had one done by the RVC and it was £180 - a bargain!

I am having one done on Thursday and it is costing 180.00 but this is an estimate and if it goes over 80 mins I'll be charged more. I'm having a 5 stage.

I think the 5-stage vetting I had done last year cost more than that but I had to have 22 x-rays (required by insurance company)!
