vetting..... would you????

ive possible sold my mare, shes going on a months trial. (horse can be difficult, so this is done to protect the horse.)

anyway the question is, i know they want to have her vetted, which i dont mind, would you insisit she was vetted before she left my yard, or would you be happy for them to have her vetted whilst shes on trial?
 
she cant stay with me as im devon they are bottom or cornwall. i was thinking id want her done before she leaves me, as i know shes fit healty and sound, and also due to the fact she has it in her to be a cow, id much rather be handling her whilst she was poked and prodded...

im just unsure to weather its the norm or not, due to trial shes going on a contract, so i can write it in as a condition of sale.... must be vetted prior to leaving,

i guess its waste of everyones time if they have her then she fails,,,...

Have her vetted first, if she fails they will probably cancel the month's trial.

If you send her away and then they vet her after the month trial,and she fails, it will all have been a waste of time and probably upset your horse to boot.
 
Have her vetted first (as that way you know they are genuine buyers & you are covered if anything happens while she is in their care) and insist they insure her as well.
 
To be honest I would suggest the other way round but all depends on circumstances i guess. We took a horse on (I think) a 2 weeks trial and, all being well we would have it vetted by our vet. We did however trade my pony to the sellers for them to try and sell for us (they never managed to, reckoned he was crackers! hehe).

We had the horse vetted at ours as we were happy with how he was going and we ended up buying him as we trusted our vets opinion and it was easier that way as meant we could be there for the vetting (plus costs were cheaper than sending him to the vendors property!).

Depends entirely on the circumstances I guess but personally I always want our vet to vet potential purchases. We have only on one occasion had a different vet as the horse was many miles away.
 
if she was being sold straight think i would leave it up to them, but because of the trial id rather she was vetted before leaving me.
ive have ammended a loan agreement, after getting screwed over with a horse that was out on loan, ive told them i want a hard copy of her insurance, ref number included, and that i want proof of who they are and there address aswell as the yard details (im delivering her so thats not an issue.)

they have been ok with that, ive explaine im just not willing to take chances, and that it also covers us all. its rare these days you get a horse on trial, so think im being more than fair, they are coming tomorrow, staying in exeter then back on sat, were doing everything from lunging to loading, so again as far as trialing the horse goes, i couldnt of been more open and willing to do everthing i possible can for them.
 
She must be coming to my part of the world!
Definitely vet before leaving. If you want to be nice, you can always offer to refund part of the cost if she doesn't fit in during her trial period. So they don't feel they're paying to vet a horse they may not keep?

only excuse maybe the time, as they want her delivered next week!
 
def get her vetted before she goes because if she is vetted after the trial and failed you wouldnt be able to proove that she was healthy when she left. Sad to hear your selling her but I am sure you have found her an understanding home.
 
hi em, they only would have a 2 stage vetting done, theres an update on her thread on the other forum, i dont think they are the right people for her, so chances are shes staying
