Vetting

Hi.
I need a vetting done for a new horse I’m buying. Should I use the owners vet or go with a different one ? Anyone recommend a good vet to use in the Knutsford/ Lyme area ?

Try Rose Cottage Vets, if they aren't the vendor's vet already.

They came to vet a horse we were selling and I was very impressed with the exam.

do NOT use a vet recommended by the seller, if you have a vet at the yard you will be keeping the horse at, ask them for a recommendation if its too far for them to travel

Most vets nowadays won't do vettings on their clients horses. It's allowed and can be helpful for the purchaser as they are required to reveal the vet history, but most vets are not happy doing it.

It can make for a subsequent awkward client/ vet relationship if they fail the horse!

All cover that area, all good solid vets for a PPE. Get them to take the horse to W&M or Ashbrook for the vetting if you also want x rays.

always best to pay a little more for your own vet to go, i would approach them first..

They go to almost Chesterfield for an existing client so I think you'll be OK, they are my vets too.
