AS a seller all my horses are open to vettings somebody has made an offer on a horse.. I already said on 1st viewing that vetting must be done on my yard.
Tonight she has said vettign will be done on her yard to which I said no. she wasnt happy about this my answer was horse could leave 100% get kicked between being at your yard and the vetting fail vetting you send horse back I have a broken horse..

the comprise was if im delivering the horse then arrange for vetting that day and I will wait around to be there when vetting done, if horse fails she pays my fuel but i take horse home..

isnt it the norm for a horse to be vetted on the sellers yard! I am a dealer if you like, current horse is a sales livery and I have agreed a trial, 2 weeks done on contract and 50% deposit paid. Its in my intrests and my reputations intrest to protect the horse, the owner myself and of course the buyer.. or should i just let her have vetted on her yard?
 
Don't see why she should pay your fuel tbh if the horse fails. Would suggest to me as a purchaser you are expecting the horse to fail. She will already be paying for the vetting!
I agree I wouldn't let the horse go on trial. Most vettings I have done/had done have either been at the vets (they have all the facilities) or on the sellers yard.
 
As long as there is consent for a blood test I don't see why it shouldn't be done on the seller's yard... after all until the price is paid the horse is still your property... I've always had horses vetted on the sellers yard and the only horse I've ever sold wasn't vetted..

If she wants me to deliver the horse then fuel is paid each way not one way. My terms of sale ar ethe vetting is done on my yard, im not going doing a round trip of over a 100 miles to be out of pockect when Im trying to giver her options and work with her.

Im happy for the trial as is the owner of the horse. its not in my intrests to sell a horse that isnt suitable so would rather all were happy and well matched.
 
I disagree with the comment about not paying fuel, you are a business and them paying fuel isn't unreasonable. I don't think it is normal to have a horse vetted on the buyers yard, I would always expect it to be done at the sellers yard so that if something is wrong, the horse doesn't go any where and there is no pressure on either the seller to negociate or the buyer to feel obliged about the horse.

I don't think it is a reflection on your reputation to insist on having the horse vetted at your yard before it leaves particulary if there is a trial period (also something that seems to have dried up in this sue you for money world) so that you can ensure and prove to the purchaser that the horse was in one piece when you sold it. There are too many people who are quick to accuse and it would only protect you.
 
I like vettings to be done at the vet as also gives chance to see how horse travels and reacts to new environment, but other than that would expect to do at seller's place and if selling I definitely expect them to do it at my place (unless, as said, they'd like horse taken to clinic, which I will of course accompany!)
 
ive told her that im happy to ride for vetting etc at her yard etc, im happy the horse wont put a foot wrong or fail but im not willing to take chances. thanks for confirmig that its was totaly normal for a vetting to be done my yard! ... right must phone her!
