this is Buddy. He is 14 and in the last couple of months he has lost alot of weight. He has arthiritis but he still has a waggy tail.

Last night he was a bit dazed and confused and we are all sort of preparing ourselves now for the inevitable (sp.)

He lost his soul mate a year and a half ago and has been 'mentoring' Cookie our 2yo JRT x Border Terrier.

Could i ask you to send some vibes for the friendliest, most loving, caring and tolerant dog in the world.

Thanks

Huge vibes for your boy. He looks gorgeous and well loved. This is the time of our dogs life we have to be strong and unselfish. Fingers crossed for you.

thanks,

I think that the day he looks at us and his ears dont prick up or his tail doesnt wag will be the day we say goodbye. A day hasnt gone by in the past 14 years that he hasnt and he still thinks he's a puppy sometimes....he's still trying to catch his tail!!!

His soulmate has 2 strokes in 48 hours and you could see in his eyes that he had lost all his fight.

The two of them were together for 12 years and never once fought with each other. They walked out on the leads together and ran around the fields side by side.

Mum has decided to book a vets appointment, he had a bad night on friday and when we came down on saturday morning, he had been unable to hold his bladder. He had gone to the back door, bless his heart but obviously we were all in bed and didnt know.
Mum did visit the pet health person at Pets At Home on friday and she has bought some of those new pedigree joint care sticks. (the dog in the beginning of that ad is so much like Buddy its unreal!!) She is going to talk to the vets abou it though.

He is already on a prescribed diet but it doesnt seem to be having the same effect it was having about 6 months ago. He eats it and then ten mins later is desperate to empty his bowels. Its as though it goes straight through him. His dropping arent loose though, they are sort of crumbly?

Feel a bit iffy about it all at the moment, I personally dont think he is going to be with us for much longer, and I think it would be cruel to put a dog of his age on all sorts of antibiotics and things. He will be 15 in July. He has never ever had any unneccesary visits to the vet and has always been in perfect health, I just think old age is getting the better of him now unfortunately.

I just hope my mum makes the right decision for him and not her.

cookie dough ice cream for getting this far.
