Poor George is lame behind :( went out for a nice hack in the sunshine today and all was fine and George was very forward and pleased to be out :), decided to have a little trot and the poor boy was as lame as anything behind :(. Got off and walked him back to the yard, there was a stone squashed into the frog on his near hind, but he still trotted up very lame when it was removed. No heat or sign of anything on the leg or foot, as luck would have it my farrier is due first thing tomorrow so will see what he thinks, and then it will be the vet.

Needless to say I am rather worried about my gorgeous man :(

Hopefully just a stone bruise, but what luck you have the farrier in the morning - I wish mine timed their foot issues so conveniently!
 
Hopefully it was just the stone and that he will trot up sound tomorrow for you, it sounds like it as if that is hoof he is lame in.
 
Oh no, hope it's just a bruise.

My dimwit ex-racer has bruised his foot from treading on a stone & from treading on a jumping pole, & each time he was really quite worryingly lame. Both sorted themselves out with a week or two's rest, so hope that yours is the same.

Of course George can have some <<<<<vibes>>>>>>, although my guess is that he is just bruised, your farrier will be able to tell you tomorrow. Our first horse was called George, so I have a very soft spot for your horse.

Definitely worth your farrier taking a look but as you found a stone, personally I wouldn't bother with the vet yet. I'd let the farrier look, if nothing more sinister in there then I'd just give him a few days off (field rest probably TBH) then reassess. If no significant improvement, speak with your vet then. I'm sure George will be fine in a few days - you know what men are like when something hurts, you'd think someone had cut their leg off ;)
 
It clearly was man pain as he trotted up completely sound this morning :rolleyes::rolleyes: can you believe it! My farrier has had a look and couldn't find anything amiss - phew! I am mighty relieved but I will keep an eye on him and give him a couple of days off in the field just in case.

Boy don't they like to scare us :eek:

Yes they do! That's great news, glad he is feeling on form today x
 
Really pleased he's okay. He's obv less of a wimp than my TB, who likes to stretch a bruised foot out for 10 days to 2 weeks!

Sounds like my BF who has managed to make a bit of a cold seem like bronchitis, flu and pneumonia all rolled in to one, necessitating lying around on the sofa in a faint for 3 days with "every bit of my body hurting including my eyes, my teeth (!!!!), my nose, my head, my ears", and claiming dramatically that I am unsympathetic because a) I am not ill with his cold, and b) when I do have a cold, I continue with my life as normal. *rolls eyes* men!

G_G, glad to hear George is OK! Sounds like he was being a bit dramatic!
 
My heart sank when I seen this post!I have secretly stalked u and George as I seen ur posts when I was researching rao when my boy was diagnosed in the early stages!he's such a gorgeous boy and u clearly love him very much. I know how worried you will be but try to stay calm,don't do too much research on mystery lameness as u will have him diagnosed with all sorts(if ur like me) sending lots of vibes!!fingers crossed he comes right soon
