Vibes for little Jessie please

I'm so sorry Mrs J. That is hard to read. It must be so hard. Not much help now but in future you'll take comfort that she had those 3 good years and that it was your family who gave them to her. You'll be there for her until the end whenever that is but I'm hoping it's not as soon as it looks at the moment. Thinking of you xxx

Thanks as always to those of you who have been kind enough to respond to the update.

Our local vet has got the blood results and consulted with the hospital where she was until she came home at the end of April.

The blood results are now confirming her main problem out of many, is HE hepatic encephalopathy and that is almost certainly what is now causing the neurological problems. I was given a whole list of results and what they mean but was completely bamboozled on the phone as often happens under stress with me these days. I have asked her to email me so I can actually take it all in, not that it makes any difference really, we just keep her on her very low protein prescription diet for ever now and treat whatever crops up as best we can until it becomes obvious she is becoming either too distressed mentally or physically.

She had her very first brekkie of the latest prescription diet where the very low protein is only derived from insects. Our vet has said she would like to see her gain some more weight (she lost 6 kgs in 10 days in hospital, but has now put on 1 kg) The thought of the I'm a Celeb style food made me feel quite nauseous, apparently though for hungry labs it is very yum yum indeed and she did ask for more, we gave in immediately! ☺️

No moping about in this house, she picks up on low mood very quickly so lots of jolly voices and much tummy tickles and copious healthy treats are the order of the day.☺️

That’s slightly better news, at least she likes the food and has put on a bit of weight. My friend has a dog who seems to be allergic to all dog food and finally put him on insect food as he is doing really well on it , I think it is quite protein rich

Thank you. Yes I have researched the diet they have put her on as I was a bit concerned that it is actually far higher protein that she was on, and I had thought they said she needs to be on a much lower protein diet. The concern apparently is not how much protein but where the protein in the food comes from, hence the insect diet. It is the Calibra Ultra hypoallergenic one and I have to say she is looking great on it, even after such a short trial. So far (fingers crossed) not a sign of another fit but she still does the just standing staring into nowhere thing and can't be distracted but better than growling at us!

One day at a time. 🙏

Thank you YorksG that is exactly how we are looking at it. And I have completely miscalculated how long she has had with us. I keep saying three years but my son pointed out she has actually been with us for 5 years now since she was 3! My only excuse is that I am told since my accident a couple of years back my memory is almost non existent. Well I'll accept that over an Alzheimer's diagnosis any day.
