Hi I haven't been on in a while but may I have some famous hho vibes for my precious delicia please? Came out of the box absolutly dead lame on Wednesday, thought it was an absess, farrier came up and got a bit of muck out of the hoof and hot polticed, fed two bute. This morning still dead lame a bit of pus on the polticed not lots. Vet and farrier both came out. Very swollen leg, not wanting to put hoof to ground etc, squeeling when placing weight on it etc. Not good. Vet isn't happy and isn't convinced it's an abssess, farrier isn't convinced and think something untoward is going on in her hoof so pony off to vets for xrays in the morning :'(

can I please have some get well soon vibes and prayers it's just an abssess!!
 
Oh dear. I know how you feel; it's awful, isn't it. Hopefully it will turn out to be an abscess. We had on an ongoing problem with our girl, very similar to you and we kept tubbing and poulticing to no avail. Farrier couldn't find anything, vet reckoned abscess but no sign of pus drawing. It took 10 days of tubbing a miserable, hopping lame horse that was heartbreaking to see before the abscess which must have been very deep rooted finally burst at the coronory band. We then poulticed for a few days, then dry dressing until it healed.
Sometimes the leg will puff up because it's not being used normally. Hope the X-rays show nothing bad going on.
Positive vibes for your poor pony and do post to tell us how she gets on.

Everything crossed it's just a bad abcess.
A couple of years ago Lucy went very lame the vet thought she may have broken her leg. We found an abcess but she was so lame the vet thought the leg could be broken as well. Luckly it was just the worse abcess the vet and farrior had ever seen. (thats my girl she doesn't do things by half!!)

My mare is also off to the vets tomorrow for x-rays of all 4 legs and back. :( Vet is thinking along lines of Kissing Spine, plus something else in her legs. Although hopefully both of us will be relieved tomorrow that our vets were overreacting.

Thanks. How'd it go today?

My mare is on 2 monthes box rest, cortazone injections, corrective shoeing, and further tests/assessment. :( Just as we had got all 3 phases together, the whole season is gone, typical!! But its important that she's right obvs.

hope your diagnosis is better! :)

Fingers crossed your vets get to the bottom of it really quickly and get her sorted out very soon. <<<<vibes>>>> by the bucket load.
 
Well turned up at yard expecting to take her to vets, took the politics off and I burst :S. Definatly two big abcess's, yuk! Phoned the vet who was relieved andwe have repolticed! bless her I have never seen an abcess's like that! Thank god that's all it was!
