Koko has been taken to the equine hospital this morning, he is in critical condition and was first thought to have colic.
Luckily it definatly isn't colic but initial blood tests show that it may be Idiopathic Azoturia. This isn't normal azoturia which is associated with un-fit horses being worked it is unknown how they get it even very fit and healthy horses get it.
After doing some research we found a horse died in Koko's paddock of a disease called atypical myglobinuria which has all the same symptons of idiopathic azoturia and is caused from what they do believe is a toxin in the grass. It is thought Koko may have the same thing and if this is true the outlook is very bad.
The prognosis is not good but he is on steriods and a drip atm trying to relax his muscles as he's having awful muscle spasms. When we go him in the padded stable he did a wee which was full of blood, I know this is a bad sign
he's lost lots weight in the couple of hourse he's been ill and honestly looks awful.
If anybody knows anything about these two conditions I would love to know and I would like to know if your horses survived?
