Nits has finally gone to the vets to have her hock done. Whilst I am sure she will be absolutely fine (it is only a little op) can I have some good luck vibes to try and avoid any anaesthetic induced catastrophes. And then some more to try and ward off the stress induced lami we had last time. If you wouldn't mind.

And then a quicky question. How much do vets usually charge to have a horse board in the hospital for the night? The way my insurance works is that her board comes out of her vet fees extension which is only up to £1000. I'm not likely to top that in less than a week am I? No idea how much they charge for picking up poo! She shouldn't (touch wood) need ICU or anything like that.

Best of luck with the treatment sending lots of healing and good luck vibes....
(((( ))))))

Well my last vets charged my livery by the day and was added to the end of my bill... he never came home and wasn't insured either and even if he was I wouldn't have got a pay out.

Best bet is to speak to Vets and your insurance company to check everything is fine and if you use upto £1k in a week in livery I will eat my own hat... :o

When mine was at Rossdales having her bone chip out her livery was about £125 for the week. Petplan paid half and I had to pay the other half. What is Nitty having done to her hock? Good luck, I remember being really worried about the anaesthetic but they are very good nowadays and they take such good care of them xx

Insurance people have been absolute fab. Was going to ring them in the morning just to check all is well to proceed etc and will double check the situation re stabling costs. If its only £125 quid I don't mind paying that myself anyway! The vets are apparently going to call me in the morning to let me know if she's ok (they're obviously not doing anything with her tonight so it really is just to let me know she settled) which is nice of them. Will double check with them too. Just thought I'd see if you guys could give me a ball park.

She had a foreign body in a wound in April and though it's tiny it's formed into a permanent lump on her hock which won't quite close over and gets caught on walls/floors etc. She's just having the offending lump snicked out so no big deal at all hopefully. But she is a ridiculous TB and you wouldn't believe a cut so tiny could have caused all this bother so I worry about her doing her self a mischief when she comes round. She really is the stereotypical, injury prone TB!

Fingers crossed for nitty :) I think it was about £30 a night at the vets when some one I knows horse stayed in.

Are you and BH at long drove on saturday?

dh, brown horse is giving pony rides on Saturday so sadly not. My mum's step grand daughter (no idea what that makes her to me) is coming to sit on him. Might be at Rampton if you're doing that though.

Apparently she is fine this morning. 'Eating well' I think was the phrase. No surprise there. She's a fat little piggy! As long as there is food she's usually pretty happy! I hope she's feeling as perky on Wednesday when they've actually done it!

Thanks guys. They're doing her tomorrow so hopefully by Wednesday I'll know she'll live. Poor BH is missing her. He's been stood by the gate waiting for her since she went. He's not a bright boy!
