Following on from him having second thorn removed from his eye last October (AHT had 'missed' it for 6 months if anyone remembers), I am taking him back there again this afternoon as i've noticed his eye has suddenly clouded over.

Specialist did say there was a good chance he would develop a cataract/s as a result of the trauma to the eye but can they come on this suddenly?

So fingers crossed he is o.k - suspect yet more surgery for my little man :(

My OHs dog (appenzeller sennenhund)had cataracts as a puppy, he was born in Switzerland so they operated and put in a contact lens as such he was told it could come back though. They don't do this op in England yet though I don't think thats why he had it there. But it came back when he was 7 and it literally came on over night, OH left it for awhile and then took to vets who thought he scratched it so gave drips but it didn't do anything. Took him to AHT who diagnosed it as cataracts and glaucoma. He was put on different drops to take away the pressure. That was quite rare though and due to the op he'd had earlier. Sorry this was a long story! And probably has no relevance! Hope he's ok :)

Awww - poor Paddy! I hope he's ok, I'm sure he will be!
Purdey sends a flirty floozebucket lick and lots of good vibes:p

The day after Stella's head trauma, her eye developed a sudden cloudiness which was due to secondary glaucoma. I'll be thinking every good thought in the world that Paddy's situation is entirely treatable and not glaucoma at all!

Good news - the vibes worked - Pads says thankyou very much :)

So they are confident it isn't cataract or glaucoma (phew) but suspect it is a build up or mass of chorlesterol  due to the trauma to the eye, albeit a late reaction.

Eye pressure was slightly low which ruled out glaucoma. He has to go back in 2 months provided it doesn't alter in appearence before then. They will then decide whether to remove the mass or leave it considering what the eye has already been through.

Thanks again x

So glad it's not glaucoma. Does he appear able to see through the mass?

Well when i've 'tested' that side with movement from behind I think he reacts but AHT seem to think little to no sight in the right eye. He doesn't like dogs approaching him from that side though which is new for him.

If they can't improve his vision with removal and he's not in discomfort then i'm hoping they don't decide to operate on it again.
