Looking after my mum's two Maltese at the moment while she's on holiday. They had the groomer last night, and being clipped short has revealed a massive lump on the back of Pebbles (the girl, the older of the two at 8 and my mum's favourite!). Sort of by her shoulder blades; it's somewhere between the size of a golf ball and tennis ball.
Can't believe I hadn't noticed it before, I'm really beating myself up about it, but her coat was so long before it wasn't obvious. But then I'm always fussing her, so can't understand how I didn't notice it?! Could it have popped up that quickly? I don't think (and groomer agrees) that it's a bite or sting as it's not red or inflamed, there's no heat in it, and there is no puncture wound to be seen.
Taking her to the vets at 11am, all I can think is "mast cell tumour"
hopefully it's just a fatty cyst or something though. Positive vibes please!
