This is the horse I was planning on sharing. I went to the yard last Monday to pay for my first month and found she's lame. The owner's mum refused the money as I can't ride, but said I was welcome to visit any time I like, which is great for me while I'm getting my nose problem sorted out, because I'm finding just being with her, grooming her and generally getting to know her is helping me.

She went for extensive tests on Friday, and it looks like arthritis in both hocks.

Box rest for five days, then short walks on the ground. It's likely she'll be off the road for six weeks or more, and even then she might not be sound enough to be ridden again.

I'm really upset for her and her owners, because she's a wonderful little horse, and I'm already in love with her, so naturally I'm disappointed for myself as well.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks guys

Even if she comes good, I dunno if I'll be a suitable sharer any more because 9 1/2 stone weight limit was mentioned. That would be well below my fighting weight (I need to lose weight anyway partly because I'm overweight, partly because of my condition (cancerous cells in my nose) and partly because I've had to stop smoking and really don't need to gain any more), but I've been down to that weight before, and always had minor infections, so 10 stone's a good healthy weight for me.

It might all work out still though, because I love this mare and would be happy to just pootle about at the walk if that's all she could do.
