He has had to go in for what should have been a simple straightforward treatment. He broke a tooth a while ago but it had become rotten and the vet said was probably painful. So he went in this morning to have it out and have the rest of his teeth cleaned (they looked pretty clean to me, he has always had nice teeth) and checked incase there were more damaged.

He had a collection appointment at 3pm but they have called to say he's not doing well after the GA :( He didn't come round properly and is struggling.
We have to wait til they call.

Can you go down there to cuddle, encourage him?
I’ve no idea, I’d not even thought of that.
I’m just racing round getting horses done so I can hopefully go with Mr P to collect/see him
🤞

Here’s my worry, I’ve not voiced this yet but If they want to keep him in as far as I’m aware the surgery isn’t manned over night. They don’t do their own OOH service so does that mean he’s left alone?
If so if they want him to stay surely I’m better saying I’ll bring him home where we can be with him and be at an emergency vets in about 40 minutes if need be.
I can’t stand the thought of him being alone in a crate all night 😢

They won’t leave him there alone. But if he’s anywhere well enough I’d bring him home and sit with him.
Hopefully he’s just having a wobble and not rushing to wake up.

He’s home!
He’s very spaced out and wobbly. When I talk to him I get a little gentle wag though.
He’s kind of looking straight through us as if he can’t see us and crying a lot.
I’ve left Bertie and Cec down in the kitchen and Spud by the woodburner to maybe sleep it off but he’s very restless.

Oh god, I thought Bert and his sore tail was heart break, this is awful.

Bless him. I am sure that being home will help him feel calmer and safer, and hopefully that will help his recovery. I hope he is feeling better soon.

Gosh I'm so relieved to see he is home, we had the opposite outcome with similar experience with our lab a few years ago, she was only 6 too.💔

I agree I think it might be an all nighter for you to just cuddle him and reassure him until he feels more with it. Poor old chap, I am sure the comfort of being home and with you will soon have him up and about. Loads of get up and wag that tail with lots of enthusiasm vibes coming your way. x

Glad he's home! He will be so much better at home with you. I had a yellow Lab bitch taken to the vet as an emergency having a seizure (we never knew why). They kept her all weekend and then the vet said that she wasn't responding to them so I should take her home and see how she did in familiar surroundings. She had to be lifted into the car but once at home was absolutely fine.
I bet Spud comes to when he realises that he is staying in familiar surroundings with his own people, where it's warm and not too bright.

Sending recovery vibes for spud. If it's any comfort my young jrt bitch was very odd post spay. Came home very sleepy but then very disorientated and crying a lot. I called the vets and they checked her over and said she's better at home she's just having a disoriented reaction to the GA. We kept her warm and quiet with lots of cuddles and gave her calpol as suggested. She was fine after a few hours so I hope Spud is doing the same thing.x

Glad spud is home ❤️ fingers crossed he gets back to full strength soon 🤞 my friends young lab cross had a bad reaction to anaesthetic after her spay so she couldn’t collect her until the next day but she was fine in the end. He’s a lovely looking chap your lad 💕

Oh bless his little cotton paws. Glad you have him home and warm and comfy. C'mon fellow I promised biscuits, here you go all softened in gravy.
