Vibes for poor old Spud dog now :(

Glad he seems better having had some food, thats a good sign he’s eating.
Fingers crossed he continues feeling better , what a worry for you..hugs xx

Thank you all so much, I was worried sick yesterday and it was helpful to off load.
Not sure I’ve slept much if at all but he seems brighter this morning. He’s had breakfast and been out in the garden while I fed horses
He has decided one of my new slipper socks is his and I don’t have the heart to take it off him 😂 I’m happy he’s showing an interest carrying something again, even if it is mine!

Having that call was like the worst nightmare, the thing that isn’t going to happen to our dog.
We turned down castrating him last year because of the GA risk and him being older, obviously he can take pills for his prostate issue but no pill can remove a broken painful tooth so I guess there was no choice

So glad he is home!!

When our bitch had an op to remove bedding from her gut (lab!) It took her ages to come round. That particular vets don't do overnight so we had to pick the poor girl up, take to her to the emergency vet to be looked after over night, then pick her up again in the morning. Poor dog having to go through that after a serious op. She recovered well and we have now changed vets!

I'm really pleased he seems to be on the mend. I have this worry with my dog. She has a tiny growth right on her eyelid. Obviously the sooner she has it removed the better, but I'm just not sure the risk of anaesthetic is something I want to do.

How is Spud today ?
He’s up and about. When I got home from work he met me at the door with a toy.
He still looks a bit vacant and confused and after being up for a few minutes will flake out and sleep but compared to yesterday he’s a whole world better thank god!
He played with Bert for a bit earlier, not for long but he tried!

Great update, sounds promising!! Who needs slippers anyway?
Re the GA: niece’s dog with a heart murmur broke a tooth retrieving thrown stones (I know....), but he was sedated, plus local into the jaw, to extract it really quickly. Sedative wore off completely in less than an hour, and the bill was low-ish.
Her dog was also castrated, altho can’t remember whether that was before or after his heart was diagnosed, or whether that was local & sedative, too.

I am so glad he’s doing better , he’s a lovely boy .

Thank you. He is.
We had our first black lab many years ago. Both of us first dog as adults and loosing him was terrible.
I contacted his breeders and put my name down for a black boy for Mr P’s Christmas present a few years later!
This is him 🥰

He’s currently snoring so loudly! It’s so much nicer than the crying of last night or silence that we could have had tonight 💕

Excellent! GAs are a huge worry. I asked about Goose having one for stitches because of previous experience. The vet called me to come and sit with Bear coming out of a GA because he was in such a state and Brig, admittedly an old dog, flatlined multiple times during his so I was really worried. Glad to see your boy is up and recovering. The crying kills you, doesn’t it?
