Long story short L has a VERY swollen hind leg and after vets visit I have 2 diagnosis'
1) Infection / cellulitis
2) hairline fracture

He has till friday on bute and norodine and walking in hand twice a day with pressure bandages, if the swelling does not disperce or he goes lame he will have to be Xrayed.

Am sat here in a state and would really appreciate some vibes

fingers crossed.cellulitis can look awful,my mare had it in hindlegs looked like elephants but recovered well .hope its sorted quickly

Can I just ask, what's the reasoning behind waiting till Friday for X rays? When we suspected a fracture in my horse last summer we got her into the hospital for x rays that night, didn't even wait until the following morning... I would have thought knowing before you do the walking in hand would be best.

TBH puppy I really don't know, it might be because the leg is so swollen.
my vet has contradicted themselves by saying they want him on Xties bandaged on min to saying keep him walking the next

I have spoken to my YO (I am a mess atm and cannot think straight) and he is convinced that it is an infection.

Sending lots of vibes your way. We have just had one with terrible cellulitis in all 4 legs needing 5wks box rest and intramuscular antibiotics. I was terrified as they were so huge i was convinced it was bone related but they went down eventually. Fingers crossed for you

(((((VIBES))))) another vote for celllulitis looking awful and horse being unwilling to put much weight on the leg. Find it hard to believe if the vet really thought it was a fracture he would leave it. Fingers crossed and hoping the time passes quickly.
