My boy came in from the field two weeks ago on three legs. Vet came immediately and suspected a tweaked knee. Had bute for 4 days and box rest. Lameness improved but didn't go sound.

Routine vet visit to yard I ask vet to check my boy. He suggests x-rays and scans - so boy goes in.

Chip from radius found in knee! Will need surgery to remove :( . Vet suggests full knee block to confirm this is only issue.

Knee block done today but my boy was not 100% sound and has reduced flexion in other knee.

He has had to stay in tonight for full work up tomorrow - I'm devastated as you can all imagine. She is going to block other knee tomorrow and his feet to check them (suggested it could be his ligaments as since I have clipped his feathers to deal with mites it is obvious he is not as straight as he should be!)

Just wondered if you could send him some vibes - we could really do with some.

A client/friends horse has just had a bone chip removed from his stifle. He is bounced through the surgery and is currently on box rest but prognosis is excellent!

Good luck!

Sending Vibes to you!

Just on a positve note my mare was kicked in the knee causing bone fragments which she had an op to remove, box rest and slow introduction work etc, knee is fine now no loss of function so keep positive!

My horse had a bone chip removed from her fetlock last autumn. It was absolutely fine. She went up to Rossdales in Newmarket for it and they were absolutely excellent. She only had to be under the anaesthetic for about half an hour and the drugs they use are vastly improved these days. They do it as a keyhole surgery - after my pony's staples were removed I couldn't even find the hole!
The box rest wasn't too bad either. They said three months but actually some of that was field rest and for the last month I was sitting on her and walking around so in fact it was only one month of what I would call real box rest - not too bad at all!
It'll be fine and yours'll be fixed before you know it :)

Sorry to hear about your boy although hopefully, you should know tomorrow what the problem is. I know how stressful not knowing is, I had a simialr problem with my girl recently.

(((((hugs)))) for you and (((((healing vibes))))) for you boy.

Hope nothing serious, please keep us posted.

Sadly - due to an emergency the boy couldn't have the full works today so has to spend another day away - just want him home now but we need to know the cause so will just have to wait until tomorrow.

The boy came home today having had the full lameness work up. Only issues are knees so he's being referred to have the chip removed.

Vet suggested he will probably be medicated for the other knee possibly via injections - has anyone any experience of these?
