Hi guys,

can I preface this by saying that the vet is on her way and should be here in about 20 mins.

Just gone round to parents and our old Betsy has done something to her leg (we think)- off side back hind. When she walks, she's lifting it well clear of the ground and hobbling about. She can put it down and bear some weight, but not a lot. Can't feel any heat, swellings or anything obvious really. Strange thing is, to look at her when she's not moving you'd swear she had colic. Keeps lifting that leg towards her stomach and looking round at it. No sweats or anything like that. She was last checked at lunchtime- no obvious signs of anything amiss then.

So I'd like to request some famous HHO vibes please. She's almost 40 and we've had her for 26 years. She's the second pic in my sig.

Vibes winging their way to you. The colicky signs could just be the sign of pain. Could it be an abcess? Lot of them around this year. Good luck with the vet and hope you can make her comfortable. Keep us posted.

Well, think your vibes def worked. Vet came and it's an abcess in her toe. Weird thing is, she's walking on the toe, putting it down first and gingery on her heel. Never been so happy to see a gush of pus. :) She's had some painkillers and is now tucking into her evening feed.

So thats me poulticing for the next week or so. What size nappies do you think for a 13hh native type pony for putting over it? Think we've got new born up to about 6 months at parents house.

ETA: Yeah, every little thing with oldies is a worry. Fortnately for her, other than routine vacc's etc she's only needed the vet twice in 26 years!

So glad it's good news. Vibes on here work a treat, my boy had lots last week for colic and is doing well now. Hope she makes a speedy recovery xx
