I'm sat here in tears - we've been treatng Oscar under veterinary supervision for 10 days for a small infected cut to his inner hock, when he came off the anti-biotics on Saturday the infection had resturned by Sunday night. He's been in horsepital and they're now worried the infection is in the tarsal sheath so he's going to under go surgery with GA today or first thing tomorrow morning to flush the sheath incase of infection. The prognosis is "guarded" - please can you all send vibes both for what they'll find and the GA. I couldn't bear to lose him

I had a horse have this done and it all worked out fine, took a long time to recover and loads of antibiotics.

He's out of surgery and on his feet. The tarsal sheath wasn't infected but the surgeon did find some infection of the joint itself which was flushed. So they'll reassess in 3 days when he'll hopefully be allowed home on box rest for a further 7-14 days. The prognosis is still "gaurded".
