Has anyone tried one of these?

I had a go on one at the "Grand Designs" exhibition (right next to HOYS - don't worry did go there too!!)

I loved it, it worked all your muscles without being hard work(!!) and you could feel where it would tighten everything up - reckon they would also help with your 'core stability' so help your riding too.

I really want one - any stories good or bad ??

It is an exercise machine you stand on and it vibrates a lot!!

My mum goes to a gym where the powerplates are the only machines there. She swears by them and I believe they are meant to be beneficial for her osteoporosis too.

I have used them and they are good- you just stand there in different poses and your body is made to work by the vibrations.

This is a much better explanation!!!

I have had one for about 18 months and theyare fantastic. They give such a weird feeling when you use them through a whole set of exercises and make my skin itch (hard to explain). AND they really are very vibrating and the ones where you sit/lean on machine are ... hmmm ... interesting (:)) won't even try to explain this one.

I can honestly say that the day after you really really know you've been on them just as if you'd spent an hour in the gym when you were on it just ten minutes.

Not sure about core stability, I use the exercise ball for that which I think is unbeatable really (imo). I leave mine rolling about the house so I can jump on if the desire so takes me!

My sister has been using one now for a couple of years. She was recommened to buy one from her surgeon as she suffered a spinal injury in a traffic accident 3 years ago and has been having (and will have for the rest of her life) spinal surgery. The shaking motion is of great help to her and she really feels the difference - even though she is still on high pain medication. As for me - I try to get on it as often as I can - and when I was using it regularly, it really tones you up and I even lost weight.

When our friends and neighbours heard about it - (this was before it became the craze in all the gyms etc) they all came round to have a go and reckoned it was better than a ride at Alton Towers!

My sister just uses the stand on action, but if you sit on the vibration plate, or lay down and have your chest or upper arms etc, etc. there are loads of exercises you can do according to how you sit or stand on it - even by just moving one foot in front of the other, works another part of your body.

Our friends do get slightly embarrased when we say we're going to have a go with the vibrator now!!!!

When we originally got ours - the proper price was over £3,000 but the surgeon gave us the name and number of someone who sells them on ebay and it was about £500 I think - well worth every penny.

So if you want it for medical reasons (and we had the Newmarket ostepaths out here viewing it and having a go, and then ordered one themselves), or want it as a lazy way of exercising - then go for it.

It is recommended to be used for no longer than 10 minutes at a time (twice a day) so a quick and convenient way of exercising too. It means you can still watch the TV, or even eat (yes, I stood on it and had an ice-cream - well, my thought was that I was shaking the weight off me at the same time!!!)

Don't try and have a conversation whilst you're standing on it though as the vibrations makes your talk "wobble" as such, gives everyone a laugh who is listening to you.

If you want to know who we purchased ours from, then PM me and I will try and find the details again. They were very good - we ordered and it arrived the next day - but make sure you don't have a bad back because it weighs so heavy that you need a couple of people to lift it up in the first place to screw it all together.
