To the yard keeps trying to attack me as i leave, its garden runs paralell to the drive way of the yard and as i come down it on my scooter it comes flying out barking and leaping at me snarling, it has bitten my yard owners son before and has also attacked another livery hacking her horse out, She complained to its owners but the have done nothing about it, and basically said she was lying and told her to f*** off, what can we do about it???

Report it, if it's attacking people and is out of it's own garden, it can be made a Police matter.
Otherwise, the wharfarin sandwich

Report it. You've given the owners a chance to deal with the issue. There is no excuse for allowing a dog to behave like that!

when did it bite the YO son? Was the dog loose when it happened? If recently and it was loose then the YO could contact the police and let them follow it up as a risk to public safety.

If it was off it's owners property and not under control, report it, please.

I was once bitten in my office, by the bosses friends GSD - it was only a small puncture wound on my thigh, but was unprovoked and shocked me. I wouldn't have done anything about it, but then one of the lads working there told me how the owner had come out and bragged and laughed about his dog biting me. I pointed out to the lad (who was also laughing at me) that his small sons face was the same height as my thigh - he stopped laughing. I then reported the owner to the Police, who followed it through, and I believe told the man that one more report (I wasn't the first) and the dog would be destroyed. I didn't hear anymore on the matter.

Yep and basically been told to put up, shut up, and f*** off. I think its attacked the post man a couple of times too so now the postman delivers the yards post and next doors post to the yard and then next door come and pick it up, at which point my yard owner who lives onsite told nextdoor people thats it has tried to have me off my scooter and they basically said they weren't going to do anything about it.

Maybe you could pop over and have a chat, no accusations, no angst - just a chat adult to adult. Sometimes that can make a difference, explain to her that the dog might get hurt, or worse if it keeps getting loose and chasing horses and motorvehicles.

Good idea, Shall do that at the weekend, to be honest i'm more concerned about me coming of my ped, it getting smashed up and me getting bitten repeatedly! its no small dog either its staffie looking but not as chunky and longer legged, they also have a neopoltian masstiff but he is really really lovely and friendly.

There we are then, they can't be deliberately bringing up naughty dogs, you never know this one could be a rescue etc etc, sometimes problems like these can be much easier resolved through people talking reasonably. Fingers crossed.

Big hammer and twat it straight between the eyes.

I have had to face up to dogs at work a couple of times, out comes the hammer, once against 2 GSDs, at a pub, when they realised I bloody meant it they both backed off, the younger one had bitten the cleaner, had a lurcher and a collie terrorizing a road near me, did the same, they quickly got the idea.

You don't know whether that's true, often if you approach people throwing accusations they naturally throw them back and nothing is resolved.

If someone took the time to chat with her calmly and quietly maybe the result would be more favourable...?

Too many of these situations could be sorted by some good old fashioned give and take and talking!!

Where I used to work there used to be a dog near the yard that used to do this( sometimes with the owners watching!) and various people on the yard had tried various things to sort the situation( talking calmly to the owner, visits from police, Lawyers letters etc) but to no avail!! In the end the dog chased me up the road on a livery's horse one day so I went round there and explained that if the dog ever did that again I would come round and hang it by it's tail outside there front door and slit it's throat ( heat of the moment thing, would never actually do it!) they seemed to get the message soon after!

JM - just what I thought as I read it - end of problem - they do this all the time in Thailand if folks don't control the dogs, hence my Dad keeps his ridgebacks under control at all times so they don't get bumped off.

Not nice but owners with that attitude are ar*seholes that should not have dogs - actually I would like to given them a share of the steak too - two birds with one stone as they say

Send a PM to PeterNatt on here as he sent me a very good PM about what your legal rights are.

Basically you should speak to toe Dog Warden of the local Council and the police. And between the 2 of them they can stop this from happening.

I totally get where you are coiming from but the dog has already bitten someone according to the OP and has shown threatening / guarding behaviour since. Even if it came across as an accusition any decent owner would take it very very seriously. It's not like it's a bit of barking.
