In true style of reflecting and planning at this time, I’ve made a video in an attempt to tell the story of me and the Winmonster’s year.

I was all set for 2011 to be ‘our year’ (oh how naïve!) but in reality (horses do bring you back down to earth with a bump!) we missed several events due to family commitments, pulled shoes… and I soon learnt that being able to do it in a lesson is one thing, but putting it into practise on your own- entirely another!! Our first couple of events did not go at ALL to plan, but we had other stuff to focus on so it wasn’t completely the end of the world.

Had a bit of a breakthrough mid-summer, and I continued to improve from there onwards to finish the year on a good note! :D

I’m saying ‘I’ because Winston is an absolute and utter SAINT for putting up with me. I know I always say this- but he really has taught me so much but in so many more ways than just how to jump a big fence. Not bad for a 16yo windsucking TB with crappy feet!

You've improved so much!

How much had he done before you started having fun together? Hope 2012 is as awesome as it should be. you've earnt some decent successes! :)

I wanted to say sorry I never replied to your pm about feed. I can't reply on my iPhone it just won't do it and keeps taking me back to my inbox page and my computer is broken. I hope you sorted it out in the end :).
 
Wow, lots of replies! Of course I should probably mention I made it during the time in which I should have been revising... :o I'm not sure how much my actual riding has improved, but more my mental outlook (if that makes sense!) on how to ride round a xc course... although maybe that's the same thing! Haha.

Lolo- He actually used to belong to Ali16 on here, and she evented him to PC Open/BE Novice level (I think!) until he was about 9 or 10. He then went to a very loving home for a few years but didn't do much other than showing, so when we bought him as an almost 15yo it was a case of getting him back into it all, with me learning along the way (under Ali's guidance)! :D

Finn- Yes, especially at 0.44?! :p I muted the video soundtrack because otherwise all your would be able to hear is some shrieking, laughing and people shouting 'SIT UP!!' I wasn't sure if he was going to go or not, and it was one of his launching into space moments...

Firewell- Thanks :) Honestly don't worry! :) I spoke to TGM (who seems to be a fountain of knowledge about feeding!) and decided that he wasn't about to have a protein overload :p

Awww what a lovely, inspirational video! :D I've only had my horse 3 months but I hope to have a 2012 something a bit like your 2011! also i love the song :D

Oh dear- sorry! :o He is just so super, and I think over this year we've really gelled more. :D And no I haven't- I sent her some pics of him but will forward her the link! :)
