Am wondering if you peeps can give me recommendations for a new video camera. There are so many on the market and I am a bit lost.

I am not looking for anything fancy, just something that will take a reasonable film of a dressage test, decent zoom and easy uploading.

Will depend on your budget I'm sure :p

I've got a little Sony handycam which records in HD onto flash memory. Think it was about £200 or so. I've been really pleased with it, just been watching a video of schooling last night from it.

Had it a few years now and it's been really good, has some anti-shake settings and various options to cope with poor or bright light. Easy to use too so I can just give it to anyone and they can film me... if my mum can work it anyone can

Nice thing about HD is that you can get good stills from it, all of my sig pics are video stills :) Only thing is my laptop is so elderly, it does struggle to do anything other than upload to youtube ;)
