Yesterday myself and a friend took part in the SEIB Burghley Sponsored Ride 2015.

First time I've ever been to burghley, let alone done the fun ride, and we had a brilliant day and the sun was shining from start to finish.

We set off at about 11:30am and the ride took us just over one and a half hours. The course was well marshaled and there was plenty of opportunity to ride next to the xc fences. There was also three canter/gallop stretches with the last one being over 2 minutes long (awesome!). There was also a photo point infront of burghley house and the lake with a professional photographer which was nice (albeit the photographer was quite shirty with us if the horses dared to move whilst she was snapping).

At the end of the ride we received a goodybag and lovely big rosette.

After we had untacked we nipped off to the Land Rover hospitality area, and upon showing our landrover car key, had a free burger and drink, best way to finish the day!

Of course I wore my headcam and here is the resultant video (which has already been shared by SEIB on their facebook page, lol) - it's quite long at 10 minutes but was hard to reduce 100 minutes of footage down. I've added a few good songs as usual to keep you entertained.

Enjoy

Had a quick look, but in work so can't watch for too long. Is it just riding around the XC course ? I was imagining it would be more like the Badminton fun ride with lots of smaller fences. I suppose that's why Badminton isn't at the same time as the Horse Trials.

Yes you just ride around the fences on the course, you're only allowed to walk or trot on the course sections. There are some gallops and a section through the woods though after you come off the course.
It really made me appreciate how long the xc course is for the competitors, the fences look so much closer together when you watch on the tv, and I was surprised that some of the fences didnt actually look as big as i expected either.
