I appreciate this is very far from the finished article, and there are lots of reasons to pick holes in both me as a rider and Frodo as a horse, but wanted to share this - I love my little TB :)

Although I love him very very slightly less today after trying for 2 HOURS to load him today without success :p , hence the purchase of a Be Nice halter today....

I know that this being H&H there will be people who will want to criticise, but if you could be constructive and tactful I would appreciate it as I am a sensitive little flower :p :D :D

Super effort, some really lovely moments! I think give him a bit more time, a few more outings for him to start relaxing more and you'll be flying! Bless him he looks such a sweetie.
I would say to try and keep him in a more steady contact, (easier said than done no ;)) and make sure you're on the right diagonal to help with balance. But overall a lovely tactfully ridden test well done :).

Ps I'm sure the loading will come the little sod!

Very nice and those half 10m circles are difficult with a big horse to keep them in a rhythm but you did that. Maybe practice the walk on a long rein as it started off beautiful and then his head shot up but I think he was maybe listening at something I didn't hear? Could practice halts too to get a square one as that finishes off a test lovely. Well done though keep at it. :)

Thank you Charlie007 :) :) I will admit I watched it with a stupid grin on my face, he is so handsome even if I do ride like a sack of spuds :p

Good point about halts & free walk Rach89 :) although if I'm honest that was the first time he has actually walked for a reasonable time in a free walk rather than jogging - we will keep practising :)

A little tip my instructor gave me about the walk is to use alternate legs to push him on in walk. It keeps them listening to you and in time with practice you can use it to lengthen the stride. Might be worth a try? You certainly don't ride like a sack of spuds but as your confidence grows you will grow and you will be proud to show your lovely boy off!!

You're tipping forwards a bit in the saddle with rounded shoulders. Sit deeper and roll your shoulders back (put those morags out, lol). Try to get your palms facing each other as at times you're playing the piano. ;)

He looks a bit tense sometimes but that's going to improve with time. Well done though. I'm steeling myself to get out there on my mare so you're braver than me!!!!

There is lots to like about your horse :) I noticed the tipping forwards as well. I tend to do that too. If you tried to sit up a bit more and have a slight bend in your arms it would make a big difference. Nice test though.

Lovely test, well done :) he seems like such a willing horse and waiting for your next instruction.

My only point (outside of the tipping forward which others have already pointed out) would be that he could do with being a little more forward, particularly in the trot. If you sit up and push him forward more you should get a nicer contact too :)

As others have said, this will all come with time but I would focus on getting him moving forward a little more :)

Thanks for the feedback guys :) I should have said about the leaning forward, as soon as I started watching the video I was screaming at myself "get your shoulders back"!!! Also I'd noticed the lack of oomph, I think I am trying to slow him down so much to avoid tension/rushing that I've overdone it :( I was surprised when I saw the video actually, he doesn't feel as stuffy as that when you are riding him, so clearly something to be aware of in the future :)

well done, I like the way you are giving him the chance to sort out the balance and not over pushing, and he is starting to reach forward nicely and round up at some points, I think its hard to ride well and not tip until they have learned to use their backs more, its hard to sit on prettily, and this takes loads of time, which you are sensibly giving him.

when he is capable of putting it all together he will be a different horse, loads of time!
