This is concerned mainly with the slaughter horses. It's telling that the US guy thinks Europe seems to have a handle on it.

It show how desperate their suituation must be. :(

There's some sense spoken and some repetetive waffle. I'm not sure what I think, in all honesty. If the EU Commission is in need of scientific proof of the stresses and suffering of the horses in transit, I don't forsee much hope for change as the majority of Italian abattoirs (the most common destination) will be highly unlikely to allow the viewing of animals transported irregularly.

It's also odd that the lorries they show are the ones acting legally by partitioning etc. The majority of the transporters don't.

I wish the outspoken anti hunting and anti racing protesters would put their efforts and voices behind stopping this ongoing cruelty.

I think they may see what no one wants them to see if they were to arrive unannounced at the slaughter plants in Sardinia. The horses are/were loaded onto the ferries at Genoa after their journey from Poland (or wherever) to end their journey sometimes after 2'400 miles and 95 hours. God knows what condition they will be in but I doubt if it will be a good one.

Never a truer word said. There are horses in desparate situations who could most certainly benefit from the fervour that erupts when the above are discussed. It seems to pass by in favor of less deserving arguments.

I agree but the meat horse/travel issue isnt so fashionable at the mo. Out of sight, out of mind. :(

Well it damn well should be, in the forefront of campaigns for welfare along with markets.

Yet it doesn't seem to matter how often it's brought to people's attention, nobody seems to want to take it further. The papers don't care, because ultimately it doesn't attack either racing or the hunting fraternity. As Fairynuff says, it's not fashionable.
