what do i need to look for when purchasing a horse? i already have 1 but got him 9 yrs ago!! i wont have it vetted as it is pretty cheap (under 1000) . im pretty experienced around horses and know how to look for splints, lameness, body condition, feet etc is there anything else i need to check for??

thats basically what i was meant to put.lol

It may be worth getting a basic vetting for the horse, as he will check the horses wind and breathing, and be able to scope to see if anything is wrong

Check colour of gums and inner eyelids, check what is being fed. You can do a flexion test yourself if you're happy to do it. Run your hands quite firmly down each side of spine to see if there are any ouchy bits, check under tail, around navel and in ears for sarcoids erm can't think of anything else for the mo.

i have learnt my lesson when not getting a horse vetted! £6000 down the line my horse is sound and competeing...but anyway!basically make sure u see it trotted in a very small circle both reins on a lunge or being ridden. it will show up lameness u probs couldnt see hacking it etc.
