We *fingers crossed* may have found a pony for my daughter to loan - need prudent questions to ask when we view it - pony in question is 18.

Suggestions??

As long as it is fit and well, with no health issues (or easily manageable ones) then I would go for it ,if it is suitable. Some of the best ponies are older - and they need time to gain experience to teach children what they know!

They are the best sort, my kids first pony was nearly 20 cost me a fortune £750 nearly 20 years ago but he was solid gold and took care of all of them, was offered several blank cheques for him by parents who had brought prettier, younger ponies that we totally unsuitable. We kept him for 7 years and finally had him put to sleep because i couldnt bear the thought of him standing freezing in a field 2-3 owners down the line. Go for it Oldies rule!!!

I like the older teen horses, they are generally good dependable and sensible. As Spacefaer says, so long as there are no major health issues it's worth a look. I bought a 17 yr old last year who is still as fit as a fiddle and showjumping. Good luck
