I've got a viewing on Thursday which sounds quite hopeful.

Ad reads:

Dark bay tb gelding, 15.2hh, 14 yr old. Ex RS, so lovely manners, ideal for hacking, would suit novice/teenager, has lovely temperament, loves company, good to box, shoe, catch, quiet on roads, used to all standards of riding.

Spoke to owner and asked my usual huge list of Q's. Only concern is that the horse has a soft front knee which causes him no problems at the moment. However, bearing in mind his age, this could easily be a problem for arthritus in the near future. I don't want to take on something that will present me with huge vet bills.

I would, of course, be getting whatever I buy fully vetted - but I know that this horse would not pass a 5* vetting.

Apart from this - the horse sounds ideal in terms of temperament.

Will keep you posted on how it goes, but if anyone has any advice in the meantime it would certainly be appreciated.
