Anyone use them? Kind of put off by both buckles being on the same strap so if anything happens while tightening the girth you could end up suddenly with a very loose girth... but the girth I'm interested in has this type of fastening *would love to add eye roll emoji but system won't let me :-( *

I tried one with my mare briefly and I didn't like it. She is very girthy and it was fiddly to do up. I didn't have any problems with it suddenly becoming loose though. I am looking to sell mine though in case you are interested.

Very useful for super-rotund ponies. I suspect 'humane' refers to the rider rather than the horse.
IME they're quite easy to get caught up on the edge of a numnah, making a nasty pressure point, but this is easily avoided if care has taken.

In 20+ years I have had one accident which would have been avoided if a normal girth had been used. Girth billet broke and saddle was still attached but loosely by the humane girth. It slipped back on the pony. Rider fell, and pony kicked the saddle off over his butt and back legs. Rider and horse were fine.

Rats, these are confirming the reasons I'm not keen! I'm looking at the Ventech girths but the options are elastic or 'humane', they don't do a normal non-elastic version. Maybe I'll have to get one and replace the elastic, what a faff.

Never heard of these so I googled. And the price? $579.99. What a joke.

But mainly I think these girths unsafe. Plus there seems to be a pressure point at the spot where the strap with the buckles is looped.

Yet another con, in my opinion.
