Do any of you have views on riding in storms? The arena is covered, but it is still raining and thundering.

My trainer hasn't canceled yet and I am wondering if I am being a wimp for considering canceling.

My mare isn't spooky!

I would cancel if it will worry you. No point spending out for a lesson when you are not going to get the most out of it.

I would not ride in a thunderstorm but to be fair my horse is a complete spooker. My trainer cancelled our lesson due to resonable wind the other night saying we probably wouldn't get a nice tune out of him....she was right as I nearly wore him as a hat during our substitute lunge session

I wouldn't ride in thunder. I just wouldn't be concentrating so the horse won't be concentrating so I don't see the point! Its up to you to be honest.

Certainly wouldn't choose to ride when there's a storm about to kick off, but have been caught out when hacking. Was a little concerned, but coblet was fine and we made it home with no problem. TBH it's your call, really.

I wouldn't either but then my mare is quite spooky but the bigger reason is I'm terrified of storms and don't cope unless I'm hiding under the bedcovers. Its true that you probably won't get the best out of him so your money for lessons is probably better spent on a calmer day.
