I saw this featured in H&H a couple of weeks ago and thought it looked interesting, would like to see one close up and maybe try it to make up my own mind. The only downside is that most of our competition is showing, which tends to be very traditional so may be a while before it is widely accepted
very interesting, and if it stops people from fitting crank cavessons, flashes and grackles too tight, then it'll be a wonderful thing.
personally, i want shaped, padded headpieces for my bridles now, and with looseish drop nosebands and cavessons being all i will use, i don't think i need a bridle like that.
the unusual design wouldn't stop me, i loved that very unusual french style bridle that was shown in h&h a while ago, the d'yon one, which had no poll pressure at all.
You can find one somewhere, well I remember reading in H&H that someone stocked it. May have just been the website they were referring too though.
Maybe it will be more widely available later this year.
I'd love to try something like that on Wills, because I hate butting a flash on him, he needs a little something more than a plain noseband, but nothing as harsh as a flash, this looks like the inbetween thinking I have been looking for, I bet it has an ugly price tag though
I went with my local saddler to BETA (as staff!!) and we saw this in action. We were both very impressed with it and hope it will take off, as hopefully it will make life easier for a lot of horses (and owners of course) Any Rambo stockists should be able to get it for you.
No doubt someone will point out how thick I'm being but I'm not sure I like the fact the 'noseband' sits in the curb groove and why that's a benefit? My cob hates his noseband too tight, doesn't need a flash or a drop so why is this kinder?
I'd also need to have explained to me (in small simple words) the benefits of the replacement-to-the-throat-lash-strap (for want of a technical term!
) fitting snugly round the upper jaw.
I'm always interested in anything new (especially as I have a headshaker) or improved but can't see the obvious benefits here. Happy to learn more though!
Not sure I like the look of it but that wouldn't stop me trying it if I thought there would be a benefit. Doesn't look particularly comfortable to me either unless it's just that I'm not used to a bridle fitting in that way.
The thick buckle right up against the side of the horses mouth worries me a little and it looks as if it is pushing the bit back. I think the concept is an excellent idea though.
I cannot get one for love nor money - they will NOT be stocked over here until the summer at the earliest and according to Horseware they have NOT agreed the price yet.
They DO have them at Dover Saddlery, USA, though they have none for shipping until mid April and their shipping costs are high - am waiting until they have some in hand before I decide whether to make the order or not.
